HGH (somatropin) is recombinant human growth hormone, a 191-amino-acid polypeptide. It is studied extensively in growth, metabolism and tissue-recovery research and is supplied as a lyophilized powder.

Subcutaneously, standard recombinant HGH has a half-life of roughly 3–3.5 hours, with peak levels typically occurring around 3–5 hours. Modified long-acting forms have substantially longer half-lives.

Unreconstituted, HGH is stable for two or more years when refrigerated at 2–8°C. Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water it should be refrigerated at 2–8°C and is generally stable for around 14–21 days; reconstituted vials should not be frozen.

Add the diluent (typically bacteriostatic water) slowly down the inside wall of the vial rather than directly onto the powder, then swirl gently until dissolved. Do not shake, as agitation can damage the protein structure.
